Baseball in the pre-match line: nine innings, one MLB group and the rules of section 10.6

Baseball is a game between two teams of nine players each. The Official Baseball Rules, the rulebook of Major League Baseball (MLB), define a regulation game as nine innings; in each inning both sides take a turn at bat, and the team with more runs at the end wins. When the score is level after nine completed innings, play goes into extra innings and continues until one team leads once an inning has been completed, or the home side drives in the winning run; a regular-season or postseason MLB game therefore cannot end in a tie.

One group in the line: USA. MLB

The baseball section of the Line is built around a single group, labelled "USA. MLB", and it follows the MLB calendar. The MLB games open to pre-match bets are listed in that group with their date and start time; for a reader in Algeria most of them fall in the evening or at night.

The baseball line is seasonal. The regular season runs from late March to late September: for 2027 MLB has scheduled traditional Opening Day for Thursday 25 March and the final day of the regular season for Sunday 26 September. The postseason follows from the end of September to the end of October, and the 2026 World Series is scheduled for 23 to 31 October 2026.

The 2026 postseason involves 12 teams, six from each league: the three division winners and three Wild Card teams. The top two seeds of each league go straight to the Division Series. The rounds and their length:

  • Wild Card Series: best of three, every game in the home park of the higher seed.

  • Division Series: a 2-2-1 series won by the third victory, home-field advantage to the higher seed.

  • League Championship Series and World Series: up to seven games each, the fourth win closing the series.

Section 10.6 of the site rules: when a baseball bet stands

Baseball 2026 - baseball bat and ball close-up

The betting rules of the site give baseball its own section, 10.6 "Baseball, Softball". Its provisions for a baseball game:

Situation

Settlement under section 10.6

Extra innings

Counted: bets are accepted with the extra innings included, and settlement follows the official result with every extra inning, except for bets on parts of the match.

Game stopped early

All bets stand as soon as 4.5 innings, or five full innings, are in the book. With fewer than 4.5 innings played, bets whose result was already determined are settled and the other bets are settled at odds of 1.

Postponed game, pre-match

Should the game fail to start at its scheduled time, and the postponement be confirmed by the official website, every bet on it is settled at odds of 1.

Interrupted game, in-play

If the game proceeds within 72 hours, bets stand until its conclusion; if it is not concluded within 72 hours, bets are void except for markets already determined.

Tied score

In the NPB, or in the pre-season of the MLB and the KBO, a tie settles W1 and W2 at odds of 1 and the stakes are refunded.

Starting pitchers

Where the event names the starting pitchers, each of the two named pitchers has to take the mound and deliver at least one pitch; if either named pitcher does not start, every bet on the game is void. Without named pitchers, bets stand whoever starts.

Shortened game

Bets stand if the planned number of innings is reduced under the tournament regulations or the game is cut short because one team has an unassailable lead.

The 4.5-inning threshold of the site matches the point at which, under the Official Baseball Rules, a called game counts as a regulation game: five completed innings, or four and a half when the home team is ahead. The 72-hour rule is specific to baseball and takes precedence over the general rule of the site on interrupted events.

1X2, Total, Handicap, Total 1 and Total 2: the markets of a game page

A game page shows its markets under the labels used on the site. "1X2" has two outcomes only, W1 and W2, as there is no draw to price in MLB; in North American usage this is the moneyline. "Handicap" adds runs to one team's score or takes them away before the result is read, with lines such as 1 (-1.5) and 2 (+1.5), which the American press calls the run line. "Total" is the number of runs scored by both teams, Over or Under a line that may be a half number, 6.5, or a whole number, 7. "Total 1" and "Total 2" are the same market for the runs of one team alone.

Under the general rules, a total that lands exactly on a whole-number line, seven runs on Total 7, returns both Over and Under at odds of 1. Read together with section 10.6, a Total 6.5 is decided on the final score including extra innings: Over wins with seven runs or more, Under with six or fewer. On a regular-season or postseason MLB game the refund for a tie never arises, since the game is played to a winner.

Twelve innings in Japan, eleven in Korea: where a tie is possible

The rule that a game continues until a winner emerges belongs to MLB. In Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB), the Japanese league, a game tied after nine innings goes to extra innings up to a maximum of twelve, and a game still level after the twelfth is a draw that counts as neither a win nor a loss. In the KBO League of South Korea a regular-season game has ended as a tie after eleven innings since 2025, after fifteen in the postseason. Taiwan's CPBL declares a draw after twelve innings. In MLB itself, since 2020 and permanently since 2023, each extra half-inning of a regular-season game begins with a runner on second base; the Major Leagues do not apply this rule to Wild Card, Division, League Championship or World Series games.

The calendar does not stop with the World Series. The winter leagues of Mexico, the Dominican Republic and Venezuela open in October, and in Mexico and the Dominican Republic the regular season runs to the end of December; the Australian Baseball League season is scheduled to start on 19 November 2026. In spring 2026 the national teams took over: the World Baseball Classic brought together 20 of them from 5 to 17 March 2026, with the final in Miami, where Venezuela beat the United States 3-2 for its first title in the tournament.

From Algeria: dinars, Line and Live

Algeria is not among the member federations listed by WBSC Africa, the continental body of the World Baseball Softball Confederation, and the line has no Algerian league to show; for a bettor in Algeria baseball means MLB. The account is held in Algerian dinars, DZD, and opening an account before the first pitch is the step that comes before any bet.

Pre-match prices in the Line section apply until the game begins. Once the first pitch is thrown the markets move to the Live section, where the baseball page of the Live section shows the current inning and the hits of each team alongside the same groups of markets, with lines that follow the score.

The other sports priced before the start are one level up, on the Line section's front page.

Pre-season ties and substitutions: baseball questions

What happens to a bet on a pre-season MLB game that is tied after nine innings?

Section 10.6 states that in MLB pre-season games an extra 10th inning is played when the teams are tied at the end of the 9th; if neither team wins in the 10th, the game ends in a draw and W1 and W2 bets are settled at odds of 1, with the stakes refunded.

Does a change of players during the game affect a bet on the result?

No. Under the general rules of the site, when one or several players are substituted in a team competition for whatever reason, all bets on the result of the match stand.

Which side counts as the home team when a game is played at a neutral venue?

Under section 10.6 of the site rules the venue does not matter: the team that bats at the bottom of an inning is treated as the home team.
